My name is Shaina Pakravan and I am an editor based in LA.

I grew up painting and playing the piano and I later discovered film is the perfect combination of the two. The first time I edited I remember thinking, this is magic! I enjoy finding the rhythm of images and telling a story with them. Mostly though, as an editor, I spend my time making sure I don’t waste yours.

I have worked on independent film projects as well as with corporate clients for brand promotion.

I received my MFA in Film & Television Production from USC School of Cinematic Arts where I developed a strong sense of storytelling through my time there. As a first generation Iranian-American, my work has largely been inspired by my upbringing. My first short, "Roksana," about a traditional Iranian courtship, screened internationally and received a number of audience and jury awards. My follow-up film, “Roya,” about a mother and daughter navigating the in-between world of Iranian and American culture, was one of 41 short films selected from 3,100 submissions to screen at the 2018 LA Film Festival.

Cinematic storytelling is the most powerful medium we have today and I love being part of movie magic.
